Description
The so-called "Ḫāylu Compilation" is a compilation of chronicles and other historiographic works begun by by collecting manuscripts and commissioning copies after a fire at the Royal Palace in destroyed many manuscripts. The actual "Ḫāylu Compilation" was produced during a later exile in by 's friend and secretary . After ending his compilatory work with the time of the exile in , continued by writing himself the history of and of Ethiopia, stopping after the death of in 1809, which is not included in the Compilation. Some manuscripts contain brief accounts of events taking place after 1809, but these do not form part of the original Compilation. Most of the works included in the Ḫāylu Compilation also circulate independently.
